Surabaya Bird House

The Internet line here is very slow. I will post more pictured of the BH at Surabaya. From the pictured, you can see that most of the Bird House LMB is only 15 cm X 60 cm. According to the local, 98% of the BH here is window type and not using Sound system but still got very success BH here. From my observation, the swiftlet here species is not the same with Malaysia. The body of the swiftlet is Grey colour.

To Blitar Surabaya

Blitar is a town that located about 180 KM from Surabaya.It need about 4 hour drive from Junda Airport. Below is one of the Hotel that is located at Blitar Town. The hotel rate is very LOW about 75 ringgit per room. With 4 star hotel.

Going To Surabaya Indonesia

Tonight we are going to Surabaya. We will drive to LCCT and then take Air Asia direct to Surabaya. We going to inspect few BH there and also go to verify few land there. After that we fly to Jakarta on the 29 and 30 Nov we will be at Jakarta and going to visit Eka Walet and also attend Pak Hen Seminar. Hope can learn more about swiftlet during this trip. I will post all about this trip to share with you.

BM Progress ....

Total more then 2000 LWbrrick already at the side now. This LWbrick is 6 inch X 24 inch X 8 inch. Very good for swiftlet farming house because it can reduce a lot of heat.

Ah pak is monitor the worker for attach the " tiang "

All the : tiang " is finish attach and tomorrow the worker can start attach the LW Brick.

Yesterday, the worker just need about 3 hour to finish the base. What a good job for Ah Pak.

The worker are measure the base so that all the base is good and flat.

Two More New Swiftlet House At Alor Setar

Pictured A and B show the internal BH that is located at Alor Setar Center. This BH already operated about 2 month but have no bird. As A conclusion, the owner sales it to my friends. After my visit to this BH, we recognize few error on this BH and going to modify it ASAP.
This BH is a Dod Kernel type. From the pictured, you can see a lot of room inside this BH. It make the swiftlet hard to fly and swiftlet can not fly free in this BH.

Below is the new BH also located at Alor Setar but not at the town center. This BH will be fully operated after i back from Surabaya Indonesia. Tomorrow we going to do the internal wiring for the internal sound.

This BH is open roof design and we open the entrance in the middle of this shop lot.

Pictured D show the open roof of this BH. The open roof high is about 12 feet from the ground.


Pictured E show one of the nesting area of this BH. We attach the nesting plank with the size of 2 feet X 4 feet. Total we have 4 nesting area in this shop lot.

Pictured F show the worker is attach the siling board and the poly form on the top of this nesting plank.

Internal Sound Wiring

Today after i setup a BH at Jerlun, we went to Alor Setar to do the internal sound wiring. We are using the 2 X 6 inch tecnic tweeter. This BH size is 20 X 60 feet. So total about 90 tweeter is need to be connected in this BH. We finish all the internal wiring today and will do the speaker connection tomorrow. Planing will finish this project in this 3 day time before i go to Indonesia.

Progress....

After Ah Pak Checking, the worker is putting all the steel frame into the brick frame and Ah Pak steel monitor the wooden frame to make sure all the work are done and in the good condition. Now all the base work is finish and just need to concrete it on this Monday 24 Nov 2008. The first floor will be finish on this 30 Nov 2008 if the weather is good. After all the steel frame is finish connecting, Ah Pak need to check it one by one before putting it into the beam frame.

Ah Pak is monitoring the worker to connect all the steel before putting the steel frame into the beam frame.

New BH Again

This morning , i send my worker to finish this BH. All the tweeter is connected and we already try the sound system. All is function is good condition. During i test the external sound for about 2 minute, more then 20 bird are response with this sound. So , i planing to play this sound for this New Bird House.

Below pictured is taken during to why to Alor Setar Mr S BH. According to local, this small BH already operated for about 1 year time. I saw few swiftlet are entering this BH. The size of this BH is 19 feet X 25 feet only. Very small BH but still got bird insides, not bad right !!! This BH is located about 5 minute drive from the New BH that i build.

This is another new setup BH, I will finish all the tweeter connection before i go to Surabaya. I went to this BH for monitoring the worker to attach all the nesting plank with the right condition and partition.

After visit this few BH, i went to Mr S BH. I need to re-wiring all the tweeter and change some of this tweeter. At the same time, we do all the piping connection due to all the piping are very old and some of them already licking. About 5PM, we finish all the worker and went home. Very Busy day today and tomorrow still need to monitor few more BH. I will post the latest pictured to share with all my reader.

How To Play With Swiftlet !!

This pictured is taken during we monitor a 1 year old swiftlet house. This bird house already have more then 80 nest that is located at Kedah. During we switch on the lamp inside this bird house, this baby bird fall down. I think this baby is about 3 month old. Each time when we enter this Bird House, we can saw few of the swiftlet fall down. After we do some test, we get this conclusion !

Each time enter bird house, DO NOT OPEN ALL THE LAMP TOGETHER !! OPEN ONE THEN WAIT FOR ABOUT 2 MINUTE THEN OPEN ANOTHER AGAIN. If suddenly open too many lamp or make the internal nesting area too bright, it will scare the swiftlet and it may fall down.

All this pictured is taken from Mr S BH this morning. From Pictured A to C , you can see that at the floor and the wall got a lot of new bird shit. Normally, all new bird shit is white colour. According my " Si Fu " , the new bird that come in a new BH will have white shit and after this new bird are comfortable with this BH, then the shit will become black and of cause it effect by the age of the bird also.

Below is the BH that i monitor after visit Mr S BH. This is the standalone BH that i post it few day also. This BH will Operate on this 23 Nov below i go to Surabaya. However, still got more work to be done and we problem with the water.

More And More Swiftlet Are Coming In

About 6pm, i received a call from Mr S. He told me:

Mr S : " Tan the BH at Alor Setar already attract a lot of swiftlet flying in !!! "
I said : " Are you joking ??? The modify work not finish yet ???!!! And i just connect 2 tweeter at the entrance hold only ?"
Mr S : " I am very sure Tan, i can see all the bird are flying in now and not coming out yet ??? I think more then 100 bird and now more are flying in again !!!!
I said : " This just the beginning !!! I will surprise you when i finish all the modify work !!! "
Mr S : " Thank very much Tan. I never saw such phenomena since this BH are operated ! "

Tomorrow i will go the verify all the bird shit first and i will take the pictured to prove what are he told me. At the same time , i going to do all the wiring work and planing to finish all the modify work on this Wednesday.

Two more swiftlet house completed

Today wake up about 8am. After breakfast, i drive to alor setar to monitor 2 more BH that already finish modify by our worker. One is located at Near Pokok Sena Alor Setar and one more is located at Alor Setar Center.

Below pictured is the internal of the Pokok Sena one. All is finish and just with for the tweeter to attach only. Planning to open the sound on this 25 Nov. This BH size is 60 feet (L) X 20 feet (w). This BH is convert from a factory. This BH is using open roof design.
From the pictured below you can see the LMB of this Pokok Sena BH.

The pictured is the 8 month old swiftlet house that located at the center of Alor Setar. All the roof is finish and you can see the entrance hold of this BH. This BH is using Dog Kernel design with the roving area size is 20 feet X 30 feet ( External ) and the internal roving area is 28 feet X 20 feet. The LAL size is 10 feet X 10 feet . The entrance hold size is 3 feet X 2 feet.

Kulim Swiftlet Farming House

After visit the contraction at Alor Setar swiftlet Farming house, i and Ah Pak went to BM to send all the equipment to the new project side.
The below is the shop lot that i going to convert it into my first BH at Kulim. After monitor all the nearest BH at This area, i going to convert this into open roof design. This shop lot is about 20 feet X 60 feet. I will start this project on this Dec after i come back from Surabaya Indonesia.

Swiftlet House Progress

Today i going to visit BM BH. I need to get order the construction material at the local. I am going with Ah Pak and we bring 2 more worker to this project side.

Besides that, i planing to visit a few more BH at BM also. During the way back Alor Setar, we going to stop by at Bedong. We already get the deposit for this Bedong BH project. Ah Pak will go to cek the land and we going to monitor the flying path so that i can design the entrance hold more effective.

Monitor Few BH Contruction Side

This below pictured is the internal roving area of a standalone BH near Kuala Kedah This is the worker and Ah Pak that modify a 8 month old swiftlet house at the center of Alor Setar City. We now building a internal roving area which is 28 feet ( L ) X 20 feet ( W ).

This is the open roof for a BH that is Located at Jitra. We are using the water prove tweeter for the external sound.

The pictured below show Ah Pak is monitor the small water pool that is attach under the open roof.
